To be really successful at a carp fishing venues, it is often worthwhile to fish differently. Bas van der Maas and his friends chose not to fish during the day, and this produced a stunning result. He wrote us the following:
We had a super week at Belvare: beforehand we were worried that the carp were spawning, but luckily this turned out not to be the case. Sébastien told us that at least 5 consecutive days of beautiful weather were needed for them to spawn. That was great news because the weather forecast only gave off warmer weather from the end of our stay.
Around 7 pm we prepared 7 rods spot on! We didn't want to fish with 9 rods to give ourselves and the fish more space. The first night immediately produced a few bites, on which we could continue setting out our tactics. The number of bites increased per day up to an absurd end!
Every day we fished between 7 pm and 10 am, after which we left the swims alone for the rest of the day. This turned out to be a good move because, at the end of the week, we caught 88 fish! With a total weight of 2450lb, we caught 32x 30lb+, of which 5x above 40lb+ and 3x 45lb+, the heaviest of which was a scale of 49.6lb.
We like to thank The Carp Specialist and Sebastien for this awesome trip! We enjoyed it very much!
